Project Description

Inspired by some of the exhibits at The Exploratorium involving multiple sources of colored light and the interesting shadows they cast, students had an opportunity to apply their knowledge of basic circuitry in a very artistic and tinker-rich project. Designing, planning, and experimenting to build knowledge around the scientific phenomenon, were a central part of the project. And then of course was the challenge of building it!

Best of all, the students themselves recognized a need for a switch that would allow them to change light combinations, and preserve battery life, on their creations. Pairs of students split up with one person pursuing ways to create a switch and the other finishing the internal layout of the shadow boxes themselves.
