Bodies in Motion, Brains in Motion:
Movement makes kids better students.
On Friday, January 22, 2016, the Mount Vernon Institute for Innovation (MVIFI) is hosting Dr. Dieter Breithecker, German health and kinetics scientist, to give one of his incredible talks for Mount Vernon Presbyterian School faculty, staff, students, and parents, as well as other Atlanta-area educators and individuals who would like to attend. The event, running from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., includes lunch and learning session with Dr. Breithecker. MVIFI is proud to partner with VS Furniture to share Dr. Breithecker’s expertise and enthusiasm for brain-based learning environment design.
Dr. Breithecker is the head of the Federal Institute on the Development of Posture and Exercise and a member of “Ergonomics for Children & Educational Environment” (ECEE). Dr. Breithecker is widely published on the subject of Ergonomics for Children and Human Workstations. As an international expert he has been presenting all over Europe, Asia, Indonesia, North America, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
Mount Vernon leaders Brett Jacobsen and Bo Adams were privileged to learn from Dr. Breithecker during the VS American Days 2015, a multi-industry conference hosted by VS Furniture at its headquarters in Tauberbischofsheim, Germany. They were energized by Dr. Breithecker’s session and felt that he was perfectly aligned with MVPS’s design principle that “learning demands interactive and flexible spaces.”
